Resort fees in Las Vegas

Almost every Strip hotel adds a nightly resort fee (sometimes called a “destination fee”) on top of the room rate. It is not optional, and it is taxed.

What it covers

Typically Wi-Fi, pool and gym access, and sometimes local calls or a credit at a venue, whether you use them or not.

The 2025 price rule

Since 12 May 2025, a US Federal Trade Commission rule requires hotels and booking sites to show the total price including mandatory fees when they first show you a price. You should no longer see a low headline rate with a large fee added at the end. Taxes may still be shown separately.

Paying less

  • Some casino loyalty tiers waive resort fees.
  • A few properties charge no resort fee or a low one; compare total prices, not room rates.
  • Downtown hotels usually charge lower fees than the Strip.
  • Parking is charged separately at most resorts.

Taxes

Clark County adds a room tax of around 13% or more on the room rate and the resort fee.
