Las Vegas costs less than coastal California cities but more than it did a decade ago, mainly because of housing.

Taxes

  • State income tax: none.
  • Sales tax: 8.375% in Clark County.
  • Property tax: rates are moderate, and annual increases on a primary home’s tax bill are capped (3% for owner-occupied homes).

Housing

Prices vary by area: see the price tier on each neighbourhood page. Newer master-planned communities usually add HOA fees.

Utilities

  • Electricity bills peak in summer because of air conditioning.
  • Water use is managed tightly; check your water provider’s watering schedule.

Other costs

Car insurance in Nevada is relatively high. Groceries and eating out are close to the US average; food on the Strip is far more expensive than in the neighbourhoods.
