Nightlife in Las Vegas: the basics

Las Vegas nightclubs are huge and expensive, and they work differently from clubs elsewhere.

How it works

  • Most big clubs open only a few nights a week, roughly 10:30 pm to 4 am. Check the calendar: the DJ decides the price.
  • Dress code: smart. No sportswear, flip-flops or baggy clothes for men; heels common for women.
  • Cover charges vary widely. Groups of men pay more than mixed groups.
  • Guest lists: promoters offer free or reduced entry, usually for women and mixed groups, if you arrive early.
  • Bottle service guarantees a table but is expensive.

Dayclubs

Pool parties run roughly March to October, usually from late morning to sunset.

Alternatives

Lounges and bars (The Chandelier at the Cosmopolitan, rooftop bars), live music at Fremont Street and casino lounges, and the bars of the Arts District.
