Las Vegas is relaxed, but there are rules that catch visitors out.

Drinking

  • The drinking and gambling age is 21. Carry ID: you will be asked.
  • You can walk with a drink on the Strip, but rules on containers apply. On the Fremont Street Experience, drinks must be in plastic or paper cups, not glass or cans.

Cannabis

  • Recreational cannabis is legal for adults 21+ from licensed dispensaries.
  • Using it in public, in casinos, in hotels or in cars is illegal. Licensed consumption lounges are the legal exception.
  • Never take it across state lines or onto planes.

Smoking

Many casinos allow smoking on the gaming floor. Park MGM is smoke-free, and non-gaming hotels such as Vdara, the Waldorf Astoria and the Four Seasons are non-smoking.

Crossing the road

Use pedestrian bridges and crossings. Jaywalking on the Boulevard is dangerous and can be fined.

In casinos

  • Photos of the casino floor are usually tolerated, but filming people at tables is not.
  • Under-21s can walk through casinos but cannot stop at tables or machines.
